Thats exactly how I feel about Tinker Bell, as well as my painting of the little pixie herself! I went with a darker tone of blue in the background so that Tink really pops off the canvas that much more!! My favorite part of this painting is Tink’s headband, as it just floats on the canvas! Just like my last few paintings, this painting has some stellar color placement throughout! I can’t emphasize enough that I am painting these pieces - every bit of them. This is not some AI, online stuff. This is thirty to forty layers of paint built up over time, from my brain to the canvas. Not only does the subject of this piece pop off the canvas because of the stark difference in colors, but she is also physically in another dimension as the paints are lifted from the canvas after being layered over and over, just like a Jackson Pollock painting! A stranger … From the outside!! For as long as I could remember, my favorite movie growing up was Toy Story. As a kid, I always loved my toys/stuffed animals, but when Toy Story came around, toys took on a different meaning. When my parents gifted me a Woody and Buzz Lightyear toy, I was on top of the world! I would pull Woody’s string and hear him say he had a snake in his boot 100 times a day. Woody would hang with the stuffed animals in bed, while Buzz would keep lookout on the shelf. Toy Story was truly iconic. I mean think about it… who didn’t want to eat at Pizza Planet! Between the pizza and the arcade games…. Speaking of… THE CLAWWWWWWWWWW! Those little aliens use to scare me as a kid, but there was something about them I always loved. Pixar always made their characters so intriguing and easy to love! I’m really digging the way these colors pop off this canvas! More specifically, my favorite part is where the Pizza Planet logo goes on the little green man - there’s a few bits of yellow that really hit the mark. I like Goofy for the same reasons why I like Donald… I could relate to him. Goofy tends to be a little clumsy and think a bit differently than others at times, but I think that’s part of what makes him so clever and intuitive. I mean… if I didn’t think a little goofy, I don’t think I ever would’ve painted one of these pieces! I like my goofiness and I enjoy being unique! My favorite part about this painting is Goofy’s head. Sometimes I wonder what goes on up there… I say the same about myself sometimes. The more I look at this piece, the more it’s inspiring me to make another version of it! Maybe I’m going to make a painting of just Goofy’s head. Take it in! Isn’t she beautiful!? Another piece I’m really proud of… my favorite feature on this painting is probably either Minnie’s Bow or her hands. I love the stark contrast in styles between the abstract and the typical animation. Both styles pop off the canvas into the third dimension, a feature really neat and original to each of these pieces so far. Just like the Donald piece, with the Minnie piece, I wanted to make sure I had some stark contrast in styles because I’m obsessed with the way those pieces have come out. This piece absolutely pops on the pink background as well! Wouldn’t expect any less from Minnie! When it came to painting this piece, I wasn’t quite sure the direction in which I wanted to go, but I knew the relative palette of colors I wanted to work with. After a few layers of painting, I didn’t like the direction it was pushing… so I changed things up. It is apropos that Mickey is number one in the collection. My inspiration behind this series stems from my love for abstract art, as well as my love for Disney, and my desire to combine the two! For as long as I could remember, I’ve always been inspired by the World of Disney. I’ve wanted to create some true Disney Fine Art for a bit of time, but I wanted to do it in a unique, yet classic fashion. When I started this series, I immediately wanted to paint three specific characters in different fashions to test the flows of the paints and the flows of my mind. This is the first piece from this collection to combine contrasting styles in order to create a truly unique work of art (the abstract Pooh Bear along with more realistic hunny pot). Using a style that has truly become my own, I’m able to layer paints over and over in order to create a beautiful piece. Figment is a special character that I fell in love with on my very first trip to Disney as a child. This vibrant dragon, also known as the mascot of the Imagination pavilion of Epcot in Walt Disney World, was always presented in a manner that made you want to believe in the future and be inspired to do anything you can imagine! So you could say this entire series was at one point… just a figment of my imagination... but who is to say this figment is not real! I was debating painting his whole body, including robe, but there’s something just so iconic about the head I wanted to focus my attention there. Sorcerer Mickey is one of my favorite Disney characters ever! It takes Disney, but adds an extra dash of magic to it! Sorcerer Mickey is also the mascot to Disney Imagineering. Taking inspiration from some of my recent works, I wanted to ensure that I included that stark contrast between my painting styles. I truly believe the styles complement each other so well. Up close, in person, you could see the dimension that each part of this painting has, from the thickness of the layers in the Sorcerer’s face, to the stars popping off the hat. The process of creating these paintings might be lengthy, but I gotta say the final product makes it worth it! It’s pretty cool to see a piece go from A to B and eventually Z. From his upbeat attitude, all the way down to his beautiful little temper, Donald is one of the characters that will always put a smile on my face. I think out of all the characters Disney has to offer, I’m most like Donny. Thats exactly how I feel about Tinker Bell, as well as my painting of the little pixie herself. I went with a darker tone of blue in the background so that Tink really pops off the canvas that much more. My favorite part of this painting is Tink’s headband, as it just floats on the canvas. Just like my last few paintings, this painting has some stellar color placement throughout! I can’t emphasize enough that I am painting these pieces - every bit of them. This is not some AI, online stuff. This is twenty-five to forty layers of paint, stacked up over time, from my brain to the canvas. Not only does the subject of this piece pop off the canvas because of the stark difference in colors, but she is also physically in another dimension as the paints are lifted from the canvas after being layered over and over, just like a Jackson Pollock painting! I originally wanted to capture both Winnie and Tigger in one piece, but I just wasn’t sure the way I wanted to do it at the time, cause I wanted to include the honey pot, but Tiggers don’t like honey. There’s no Winnie without Tigger in my opinion! He’s such a fun character and is always bouncing around! Cause I mean… bouncing is what Tiggers do best! I made sure to match the backgrounds for both Tigger and Winnie as well! They would look great side by side actually! One of the other reasons I love tigger so much, is he is voiced by the actor Jim Cummings! I am a die hard Star Wars fan and he voices one of my favorite characters - Hondo Ohnaka (go watch rebels or clone wars).
